TIPS ON USING THE MD20  (stay tuned, more coming)

Want to locate the highest value dirt at your site?

The best way to know if you are where the best gold is, is to SAMPLE the dirt.  Do it right at the site without having to have water WITH THE MD20.  Simply put your sample in a plastic pan,  shake it a little as though you were panning it, then run the MD20 probe under the bottom of the pan where you would expect the gold to be.   Only the thickness of the bottom of the pan separates those tiny pieces from the tip of the probe.  No sound?  try another sample.  Only a few hits? get the next sample to the left or right of the last sample.   Keep sampling to find the best gold.  It’s FAST, FUN, and EASY with the FALCON MD20.      NOTHING HUNTS LIKE A FALCON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can’t hear the sounds from the speaker?

Buy a set of headphones from your nearest dealer.  Tiny pieces of gold make tiny sounds when they are near the surface ….. Big pieces of gold make tiny sounds when they are down deep.  The MD20 has no volume adjustment.

We sell inexpensive, comfortable headphones…we would rather hear the surrounding sounds (rattles, growls, etc) in addition to the gold.  Check the products page.

Knobs too loose?

An easy fix for making knobs harder to turn  is to buy 2 small O rings, the type that can be found in a hardware store. Remove the knobs by backing out the screw in the side of the knob, then pulling the knob off the shaft. Slide the O ring down over the shaft, replace the knob on the shaft and tightening the screw. Adjust the knob up or down on the shaft/O ring to get the tension you prefer. This will have no effect on your warranty.

What’s the copper ring for?

There is some uncertainty on how to use the sliding copper ring on the probe. A good analogy might be the focus ring on a flash light. When the copper ring is on the black line you get a wider beam. When the copper ring is pushed toward the red line the beam gets more narrow. When the ring is pushed beyond the red line the beam collapses and the unit will continue to sound. For better stability set the copper ring on or near the black line.

Copper ring too loose?

Remove the slider with the copper ring from the probe and cable assembly, by sliding it off the cable end.  Slightly scar the inside of the slider with a knife then slide it back on the probe.  For extra tightness you may carefully use the tip of a hot soldering iron to scar the inside of the slider.

Does your MD20 need to be recalibrated?

To check the calibration on an MD 20 do the following;

1  Turn the Auto Gnd Bal knob fully to the left (fully counter clockwise)

2 Set the copper ring on the BLACK line

3 Turn the MD20 on with the sensitivity switch (fully to the left but on)

4 Slide the copper ring toward the RED line

The MD20 should sound as the copper ring crosses the RED line.  If it sounds off within a 1/16 inch either side of the RED line it is within calibration limits.  If it is out of calibration, please call us at 480-396-1181, we can talk you through the calibration procedure over the phone.  There is only one adjustment that works, if you try to do it yourself without calling us, you may void your warranty.
